Light engineering is the backbone
of capital goods industry and the quality levels of this industry have a
direct impact on the manufacturing industry as a whole. India has
considerably achieved high quality standards in the fields of castings,
forgings, light machinery, sheet metal components, hand & machine
tools and fasteners. However, the corrosion prevention techniques
currently employed leave substantial room for improvements.
An effort in this regard needs
to be made to optimize usage of rust preventive
oils combining good rust preventive properties
with “thin film” characteristics to avoid wastage
due to “excess application” of high viscosity
conventional rust preventives.
