One of India’s largest export manufacturers of precision tubes specializing in CDW & ERW tubes dealt with corrosion problems. The journey began when our team conducted a performance demonstration of our VCI papers & VCI films. There was a major improvement in rust protection during shipping for domestic & export supplies. Once the problem was solved, our team focused on supporting the customer in cost reduction initiatives. A complete packaging process audit was done with scientific methods to optimize the VCI packaging.
Through this VA/VE (Value Analysis & Value Engineering), our team replaced three-layered protection with two-layer protection due to the inherent powerful corrosion protection properties per square meter of the Daubert VCI products. The packaging cost was reduced by 20% without compromising the necessary protection of the parts. The second challenge was WIP (Work In Process) protection. As the customer gained confidence with the VCI products, a joint project was initiated to eliminate rust build-up during production. The key element in WIP is dewatering & RP Oil. Post the chemical analysis & process audit, Zavenir Daubert technical team recommended NOX-RUST R 823 S, one of the most powerful rust preventive oils in the Indian market. An extensive online study was conducted for over a year with this RP oil combined with DW-40 dewatering fluid. This time both aspects of protection of part as well as cost optimization were the focus.

The low consumption of NOX-RUST due to low evaporation & Thin-Film Technology resulted in an impressive 17% cost reduction against a popular RP oil from a British brand. Needless to say, no corrosion issues have been reported for the past many years since the implementation of VCI & RP by Zavenir Daubert.
