Your RP oil can contribute to the
parts contamination
Millipore or contamination values of the finished or machined parts play an important role in improving the cleanliness of the component. Industries need clean parts that are free from metallic particles and other contamination, based on the conditions standardised by ISO 16232, VDA 19 (German Automotive Standard).
Millipore water testing is a method for evaluating spot cleanliness, as it determines the presence of solid material along with other non-soluble contaminants on machining components.
Millipore tests are now an inherent part of industrial quality control (QC) standards and organizations are dependent on them to increase the efficiency and lifespan of their equipment.
Viscosity, NVM
of RP Oil critical to millipore value
Suitable filtration system
required for better Millipore value
As manufacturing tolerances decrease, contamination control becomes an important means of reducing wear and tear. Low Millipore Cleaner works like cleaning agent or substance designed to achieve low Millipore values. The presence of contamination on machined parts results in the following potential problems for equipment users:
Effects of Rust Preventive Oil on Contamination of Parts:
Generally, parts are cleaned in washing machines to remove contamination. After cleaning, rust preventive oils are applied over the parts to protect them from rust. But water based rust preventive oil with high NVM (Non-Volatile Matter), viscous and form thick film, itself having a high Millipore value which further contributes to the increase in the Millipore value of the parts it is applied upon.
Therefore, it is recommended to use rust preventive oil which forms a thin film and has low Millipore values. Several NOX-RUST water soluble rust preventive oil are based on Thin Film Technology and possess low Millipore value.
Monitoring of Rust Preventive Oil for Contamination:
To further control the contamination of parts it is necessary to check the contamination of Rust Preventive Oils in the bath at regular intervals, especially for the parts where Millipore value is very critical. A suitable filtration system should be designed to maintain the required limits.
