Moisture on the part acts as a catalyst for rust problems. Metal parts require clean and moisture-free surface before passivation. During the manufacturing, process parts go through different chemical media – water or solvent/oil-based. Traditionally, kerosene or white spirits have been used to clean and dewater. But these are straight-run refinery products which have a wide boiling range. So even a low flash product can have high drying time due to a wider range of light & heavier hydrocarbon fractions. Also, they tend to have EHS concerns due to high aromatic and sulphur content. Some of these harsh solvents can also affect the machined surfaces.
Zavenir Daubert’s premium dearomatized dewatering fluids (DW 40, DW 60, DW 60IP & DW 80) are refined by hydrogenation technology to reduce VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) and aromatic constituents. The hydrocarbon composition of these solvents has a narrow boiling point range enabling a controlled flash point, evaporation rate, and drying time. This enables them to effectively dissolve and remove water or oil-based fluids on the part surfaces. These fluids are compatible with machined parts & are very effective in achieving low gravimetric contamination on those parts. High flash points make these products have low evaporation, low consumption & reduced fire hazard.
